We are seeking a technical expert in toxicology, pharmacology, or similar applied bioscience, with experience in health risk assessment (as opposed to environmental or site risk assessment). Experience in safety assessments to support regulatory authority registration of consumer products, medical devices, agrochemicals, preclinical pharma or food ingredients is preferred. A working knowledge of analytical and organic chemistry from academic training and experience is also required
This position will collaborate globally with Sherwin-Williams material scientists and chemists at the inception of the product design process to discover and evaluate the potential of the components of coating technologies. The position will also support the Sherwin-Williams business leadership team s efforts to market and commercialize the technologies. Externally, this position will interface and communicate with food and beverage can makers, government scientists and regulators, high-profile food and beverage brand owners, academic scientists and research institutes, NGO scientists, trade associations and contract laboratories.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
Understand and apply sound scientific principles to navigate through the technical, regulatory, and policy challenges that will lead to the business success of Sherwin-Williams Packaging Division.
Safety assessment of new food contact material leads and the ongoing safety review of Sherwin-Williams portfolio of food-contact polymers and coatings within Sherwin-Williams Safety by Design framework.
Support implementation of scientific prerequisites for global product registrations and regulatory approvals
Conduct toxicological and risk assessments of raw materials and finished formulations
Design and manage toxicological studies conducted by academic and contract laboratories
Mentor and collaborate with Sherwin-Williams Packaging product safety colleagues worldwide to unify and harmonize global product development and regulatory approvals
Develop and advocate Sherwin-Williams s positions on issues related to chemical and product regulation
Monitor current and emerging scientific issues relevant to chemicals in the Sherwin-Williams global supply chain
Participate in cross functional, collaborative project teams and serve as toxicological subject matter expert for projects
Establish relationships with industry stakeholders and participate in relevant initiatives
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
1. FORMAL EDUCATION:
a. Required:
i. PhD in an applied bioscience or medicinal chemistry.
1. Doctorate must be research-based.
ii. BS in Basic Science: Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Physics, etc.
b. Preferred:
i. Board certification (e. g., DABT, ABAT, FATS)
2. KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
a. Required:
i. Minimum 5 years of industry experience
ii. Ability to communicate effectively and influence all levels of the organization
iii. Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
iv. Health risk assessment experience (other than environmental) is required for this positon.
v. Risk assessment, scientific, and regulatory and policy knowledge is critical to the success of this position and will be evaluated on an individual basis.
vi. External collaboration is also an important element of this position and thus candidates with outstanding communication skills and professional contacts across industry, government, academia, and common interest organizations (NGOs) will receive preferential consideration.
b. Preferred:
i. Desire or experience in leading or supervising others
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to sit, stand, hear, and see on a constant basis.
Must be able to walk, write, and type on a frequent basis.
Must be able to climb and descend stairs.
Must be able to bend, carry, reach, push, and pull on an occasional basis.
Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing.
Work surfaces may include concrete.
Employee must be able to operate a computer and communicate via telephone.
Some travel to other locations, meetings and/or seminars is required.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: 15% International and Domestic
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Must have PhD from an accredited university
Must have BS in Basic Science
Must have 5 years of industry experience
Must be able to travel
This position is located in Sewickley, PA. Relocation available for this position.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
